Always Watching

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever;

With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 89:1

A skeptic made the comment to me that one aspect of the Christian faith he struggled with was his perception that “so much is promised, and so little delivered.”  My response was simply that from my view point, “so much is done, and so little is acknowledged.”

Have you ever watched young children in a park playing as if they are on a great adventure in undiscovered lands?  They run around and explore like Lewis and Clark.  All the while, the watchful and protective eyes of parents observe every move of the little ones in anticipation of some wrong step.

We go through life thinking we are doing quite fine on our own.  We drive to work or school, engage in activities and encounter others with the perception that we are in charge of it all.  The truth is, God is watching over us and protecting us.  He sends angels to be with us, and we never escape His attention.  These are just some of the mercies of the Lord.

God’s mercies, His favor or His grace, are so boundless that eternity is necessary to delineate them in song.   Even when we are not aware, He is there.  

This is worth making known to all generations!
