Pastor Bob

Robert Blair Reeve (“Bob”) met the love of his life, Sherry, during their college years at Azusa Pacific University while he played baseball and majored in Biblical Literature. After college, he received his Master’s Degrees in both Religion and Marriage and Family Therapy.

He wisely got “Smart” (Sherry’s maiden name) and enjoyed being married to Sherry for over 40 years. He was the proud father of two sons, John and Joshua, and one daughter, Shannon, and grandpa to his nine grandchildren — Nevaeh, Asher, Cohen, Arabella, Amos, Dracien, A’aliyah, A’aniyah, and Eliana.

He served the Lord wholeheartedly in ministry for 25 years, including as the Executive Pastor for 18 years, at Faith Community Church in West Covina, California, which was founded by his older brother, Jim Reeve.

In 2004, God called Bob and Sherry to plant their own church in Brea, California. In January 2005, The Cause Community Church was born in the East Edwards Movie Theaters in Downtown Brea. Bob faithfully and passionately shepherded and discipled the church as Lead Pastor for the last 16 years of his life. One of the greatest joys of his life was leading The Cause with Sherry and his three children who served on the staff team with him.

Bob enjoyed playing golf, coaching baseball and softball, watching sports, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, leading trips to Israel, spending time with his family, and being with Sherry.  He traveled nationally and internationally with Sherry to minister and preach the gospel and speak about marriage, family life, and parenting, and he authored Dugout Talk and Rebuilding the Walls: 52 Days to a Healthier Christian Life. He genuinely loved people, especially his own church, and poured his heart and soul into his family, always putting them first. Most of all, he lived purposefully and powerfully for the Cause of Christ.

His honest yet humorous approach to teaching will make you laugh and learn about yourself and will point you toward becoming a fully-functioning follower of Jesus.
