Day 16 - Aug 20
Prayer Point for Today: A deeper relationship with Christ for all of us in this season.
Amazing Love
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
God loves you just as you are but too much to leave you as you are!
Nobody likes to be told they’re a sinner, but the truth is we are all sinners. Some of us are just sinners already saved by grace, and the rest are sinners offered salvation by grace. Grace is God’s love in action. Grace is His unmerited demonstration of unfathomable affection for mankind despite our chosen alienation towards Him. Humans ignore His fingerprints in creation and choose to invent fantastic alternative theories. People ruin His great gift of relationship through selfishness and exploitation. Mankind dismisses His loving pursuit believing instead that “everyman doing right in his own sight” is acceptable. Still, despite our rejection of the Creator and His ways, He has bridged the canyon created by sin through Jesus.
I like and love a number of people; however, there are those for whom I have no appreciation. People that mock the values I hold dear or desecrate the “church” are difficult for me to tolerate much less embrace. Those who attack, oppress, and victimize people of faith or the vulnerable make my stomach turn. It’s hard to hold out hope for such mean-spirited people.
Thankfully, God is not like us. He knows that we all demonstrate hellish expressions, some just more obvious than others. The Father is able to overlook the derision and “spit in His face” attitude of many and still reach out to them with unconditional love.
Being a sinner means you’re human and a candidate for God’s grace. It also means acknowledging the need of a Savior. Most significantly, it means God loves you!
