For many centuries, followers of Jesus have recognized “Passion Week” or “Holy Week” beginning with Palm Sunday-the “triumphal entry” of Jesus into Jerusalem-and concluding with the glorious Sunday of the empty tomb and the resurrection. It is referred to as Passion Week because in that time Jesus Christ truly revealed His passion for us in the suffering He willingly went through on our behalf. A significant section of all four Gospels are about the events, teachings and encounters of Jesus during this all-important week. It is more than fitting that we, as 21st century followers of the living Lord Jesus Christ, continue in this reality by strategically turning our full attention to the Savior.

In this pursuit, we offer the following daily devotional for Passion Week. It is our prayer, that through seeking to more fully understand this all-important journey to the Cross and through to the resurrection, we will become more profoundly connected to not only the price paid for our salvation, but the glorious victory won over the powers of darkness.

In the words of the unforgettable resurrection anthem by Bill Gaither:

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
…life is worth living, Just because He lives!
