DAY 11

Half Way Through!

You are over half way through!  Stay the course, and see it through to the finish line.

Paul said this about perseverance,
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. — 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Paul probably had a great interest in sporting events as he uses these sorts of analogies several times. Athletics are noted for the training required, but in reality, any endeavor requires focus, discipline, sacrifice, persistence, and a number of other character-challenging choices.

The same is true of our walk with Jesus. In order to receive the prize, to obtain the goal, we too must make choices that keep us on track.

Interestingly, Paul reflects on the potential to miss out on the prize by being disqualified. He didn’t say “lose,” he said disqualified. Disqualification only happens when you don’t follow the prescribed rules and guidelines.  Only you can disqualify yourself, and likewise only you can make sure that you finish the course.

10 more days…I can do anything for 10 days.

I’m praying for you.
